Berlin is the capital of Germany, but is quite unlike any other part or scheme of German life. It is a culture seeker's Mecca with so much to see and enjoy. But does it lack soul? Has it become too big? Are its two city centres removing the focus and Berlins identity from where it should and rightfully be?
Places to see while in this exciting city should include a stroll, camera in hand, along the Unter den Linden. Here you will find many of Berlin's important monuments including the magnificent Brandenburg Gate. Nearby, you will enjoy a look round Berlin's Guggenheim Museum. While the art is of the standard you might expect of the Guggenheim, the architecture of the building may surprise you. Enjoy the beautiful fountains of the Lusgarten with its grand Berliner Dom as well as mingling in the busy Mitte (the centre of town).
You will be hard pressed to find evidence of the Berlin Wall today. When it was destroyed in 1989, the people here were so glad to see the back of it that they didn't want reminding of it.
